A day of cycling between olive trees and highlands, starting and finishing at very attractive towns and villages with forts and singular monumental buildings that are simply not to be missed. If your time allowance for the day allows we suggest you pay a visit to Alcaudete and its castle, which was the home of the warrior monks of the Order of Calatrava and is in a magnificent state of repair.
The end of day’s ride is optional; you can choose between staying the night at either Doña Mencía, with a guided tour of the old town centre and the wine museum thrown in, or the picturesque white village of Zuheros, with its winding streets and Moorish castle.
The route follows the course of the greenway, hugging the rugged slopes of the Sierras Subbéticas and, as in the itinerary described before, passing over magnificent viaducts and other engineering works in perfect dialogue with nature. The route runs close to Cabra, affording a good opportunity to visit this historical town. The end of the day’s cycling is at Lucena, whose palaces, mansions, and castle are testament to the mix of Arab, Jewish and Christian cultures that have shaped this town’s personality. From Lucena we will deliver you back to the start of the route.
